Calcasieu Parish D.A. John DeRosier Retiring After Term
John DeRosier, whose term will cease at the end of this year, has been the District Attorney of Calcasieu Parish since 2005. DeRosier has been re-elected for his parish position twice: once in 2008 and again in 2014, being elected to six-year term each time.
DeRosier announced Wednesday that he plans to retire after his term. In March of 2020, the District Attorney's Office was under investigation by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. American Press reporter, Lisa Addison, wrote a story explaining that the auditor was tight lipped about the reasons for the investigation, but it could take weeks or months until it's complete.
Earlier in the year, former District Attorney Rick Bryant, now judge, said he would be running for the D.A. position in the next election.
