The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) will be holding a recruitment day on May 7 for patrol deputies. The Sheriff's website lines out all of the requirements potential recruits must go through in order to be considered for a position with the CPSO.

The website has the full application that must be filled out and submitted either on the day of the event or turned into the Human Resources Department beforehand. Applicants will have a full background checks run on them before even being considered to move forward.

Applicants with the best credentials, workplace experience, and backgrounds will then be selected as needed to move on to testing. The testing includes basic math and reading skills, pre-employment skills, and finally a polygraph test. If you do not make it through the selection process, you will receive a letter that your application will be considered for future employment opportunities.

If an applicant is not chosen during this time, their application will stay on file with the Sheriff's office for one year before the applicant needs to apply again. If you continue to move forward in the process, the office says the entire process should take a minimum of six weeks to complete from start to finish.
