When I hear the name Charlie Daniels I immediately think about a master of the fiddle,  the movie "Urban Cowboy" and his hit song "The Devil Went Down To Georgia".  The reason the song and the movie come to mind for me is because "Urban Cowboy" is one of my favorite movies of all time and the Song was on the soundtrack for the hit movie.

Charlie Daniels is celebrating his 79th birthday today.  Country music legend Charlie Daniels was born Charles Edward "Charlie" Daniels and was born on this day in 1936 Leland North Carolina.

Daniels started his career in the 1950's and is known for his contributions in country, bluegrass, and Southern rock music. He is perhaps best known for his number one country hit from 1979, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"

Charlie Daniels was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in January 2008 and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

Here is Charlie performing "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" back in 1979.

Happy Birthday to a true legend!
