Former McNeese team physician, Dr. David Drez, was honored as he was presented the Jack Weakly Award of Distinction on Wednesday at the National Athletic Trainer's Association annual awards celebration.

The award is given to people who's work has a direct impact on health care in the arena of athletics, athletic training, or sports medicine and celebrates their lifetime of outstanding contributions of lasting importance!

Dr. Drez retired in 2013 after a 42-year career as an orthopedic surgeon with 37 of those as the team physician for McNeese's athletic program.
