The first forecast to come out is from AccuWeather, followed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which typically issues its outlook in May. Meteorologists from Colorado State University typically release their forecast in April as well.

According to Newsweek,

This year, AccuWeather is predicting 13 to 18 named storms, with seven to 10 strengthening into hurricanes.

Of those storms, three to six could be a direct hit to the U.S. In its forecast, AccuWeather warned that Texas, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina face a higher risk of direct impacts this year than other states. AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva told Newsweek that the direct storm hits could be spread across those states.

Now that experts are beginning to share their insights, it’s time for you to prepare. Having an emergency action plan in place is crucial. Make sure to stock up on essential hurricane supplies and review your evacuation route and procedures. Ensuring that you have a solid plan for securing your property is just as important.
