When Andre Sam was a wide receiver and defensive back for the Iowa Yellowjackets, he committed McNeese and he tore it up. During his four seasons with the Cowboys, Sam participated in eight games and recorded nine tackles, five interceptions, and one forced fumble. Sam, however, moved to Marshall before the 2022 season to play for Lance Guidry, the former head coach of McNeese.

Sam re-entered his name into the portal after playing one season with the Thundering Herd, where he finished with 53 tackles and one interception. Later, he learned that Guidry was departing to take a position as defensive coordinator at Tulane University. Guidry would abruptly leave Tulane for Miami, and Sam would enter his name back into the transfer portal.

After the draft on Saturday night, Sam was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that Sam's contract has a $150,000 guaranteed value and a $20,000 signing bonus.
