A former starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints passed away last week.


Wilson died at his home, in a suburb of Dallas, where police were called, after Wilson was found unresponsive.

A cause of death has not been released, but foul play has reportedly been ruled out.

Wilson played for five NFL teams from 1981 to 1998, mostly for the Minnesota Vikings, who he played with for 10 seasons, leading them to the NFC title game in the 1987 season.

Following his years with the Vikings, Wilson also played for the Atlanta Falcons (1992),  Saints (1993-94), Dallas Cowboys (1995-97) and Oakland Raiders (1998).

A native of Greenville, Texas, Wilson also served as quarterbacks coach for the Cowboys (2000-2002, 2007-2017) and Chicago Bears (2004-2006).

Wilson was the starting quarterback for the Saints in 1993, when he threw for 2,457 yards and 12 touchdowns.
