The first Saturday in June each year in Texas is called Free Fishing Day. It allows anglers to enjoy fishing in Texas without a fishing license. Think of it as a great way to give the sport a try, but not having to spend the money on a license that you don't want to waste money on.

If you have never fished the areas of Texas, you can check out an amazing website that not only lists the various boat launches, but live updates of where the fish are biting! The website works nationwide, and it not just limited to the state of Texas. You can find the site Take Me Fishing and search your area for where they are biting!

If you get hooked on fishing, the Texas Parks and Wildlife encourages you to purchase a license that will allow you to fish and use the public waterways for the entire year. Keep in mind that there are a lot of parks and areas that are still encouraging social distancing. Also please keep your area clean when you head to your next fishing spot!
