The 2016 CMA Awards will take time to laud this year's awards winners, of course, but the show will also be about looking back at the awards' 50-year history. In keeping with that theme, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will be performing a medley of some of country music's most famous duets.

According to Taste of Country, Brooks shared the news about his and Yearwood's performance at a press conference in Dallas on Thursday (Oct. 13). The husband and wife have yet to be officially announced as 2016 CMA Awards performers, however; thus far, only Carrie UnderwoodDierks Bentley, Eric Church, Maren MorrisKeith Urban and Brad Paisley have been revealed as performers for the show.

Brooks is nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards. On Thursday, he dropped a brand-new single, "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance," which will appear on his next album. Details on that project mostly have yet to be announced, but on Nov. 11, Brooks will release, The Ultimate Collection, a new box set featuring nine discs of music from his catalog, as well as some previously unreleased songs, plus a 10th disc that will be an exclusive version of his new album, featuring Target-only bonus tracks.

Brooks is currently on the road for his World Tour, with Yearwood along as his special guest. Also on Nov. 11, the couple will release a holiday duets record.

The 2016 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC on Nov. 2. The show is set to begin at 8PM ET.
