Golf’s Rory McIlroy Sings With The Molly Ringwalds In New Orleans
Over the weekend, the PGA Tour made a stop in Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The format was a little different than what you are used to seeing when watching a PGA Tour event.
Most tournaments feature individual golfers trying to win the tournament after four days of play. At the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, they paired two golfers together to play as a team to try and win the championship. Sunday, two teams finished at 25 under par forcing a play-off.
The teams were Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer taking on major champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. McIlroy and Lowry came out on top winning the tournament in the playoff. So how did they celebrate?
They decided to attend the afterparty which featured Louisiana 80s cover band The Molly Ringwalds. The popular band was playing a show under a tent with hundreds of golf fans who had attended the tournament.
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry walked in with a cold beer in their hand and were coaxed up on stage and the band started playing the legendary Journey song Don't Stop Believing. That is when Rory McIlroy took the microphone and the crowd went wild.
Rory with Shane Lowry standing next to him started singing the song with the band. What a super cool moment for the fans, the band, and the players. Here are a couple of videos that were shot during Rory's performance. The first one was posted by the PGA Tour.
How awesome was that? Here is another one we found on YouTube from the news outlet WDSU News.
We hope you enjoyed this as much as we did.
