Cajun Weekend Weather Report: SWLA, Find That Gumbo Pot!
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y'all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and I have been waiting WEEKS to say this. WE MIGHT FINALLY BE GETTING A LITTLE TASTE OF FALL! Now don't go dragging all the jackets out of the closet just yet. And I wouldn't fire up the fireplace. But after weeks of talking about RealFeel temperatures of 105, 106, and 107 degrees, I saw a number in this weekend's forecast that nearly brought a tear to my eye. 66 DEGREES.
According to AccuWeather, Southwest Louisiana could finally get a little break from the brutal summer heat this weekend. We've still got some humidity Friday, but temperatures start dropping Saturday, and by Sunday we're talking a high in the mid-80s. Of course, because this is Louisiana, there's a catch. RAIN.

Cajun Weekend Weather Report: Y'all, We Finally Found the 60s!
Friday
Friday starts us off with a high around 90 degrees and a low around 72. We'll have partly sunny skies, plenty of humidity, and only about a 6% chance of rain. The RealFeel could still climb to around 98 degrees, so don't start celebrating fall just yet. Friday is basically summer's last attempt to remind us who's been running the show around here for the past few months. If you've got outdoor plans Friday, you're looking pretty good. Just keep the sunscreen handy because that UV index is still Very High.
Saturday
Now Saturday is where things start getting interesting. The high drops to around 87 degrees, with a low Saturday night around 68. SIXTY-EIGHT! Sha, somebody find the gumbo pot! Now before we get too excited, there's about a 60% chance of rain Saturday. AccuWeather is calling for a couple of morning showers, followed by a possible thunderstorm in parts of the area during the afternoon. So Saturday could be a little wet. But I'll tell you what...After the heat we've been dealing with, I'll gladly trade a little rain for temperatures in the 80s.
Sunday
Sunday is the day that really caught my attention. We're looking at a high around 86 degrees and a LOW OF 66 DEGREES Sunday night. I repeat. SIXTY-SIX DEGREES. I don't know if that's officially gumbo weather... But it's close enough for me. The bad news is Sunday looks like the wettest day of the weekend. There's around a 65% chance of rain, with periods of rain and a thunderstorm possible. The good news? The RealFeel is only expected to reach around 88 degrees. Do y'all realize how beautiful the number 88 looks after staring at 105 for the last two months?
Here's Your Weekend Game Plan
Friday: Warm, humid, and mostly dry.
Saturday: Cooler with morning showers and a possible afternoon thunderstorm.
Sunday: Even cooler, but probably the wettest day of the weekend.
Bottom line? Keep the umbrella nearby. But for the first time in a LONG time... You might not need three bags of ice just to survive the weekend. And if that thermometer really hits 66 degrees Sunday night, I already know what's gonna happen. Somebody in Southwest Louisiana is gonna walk outside Monday morning wearing a hoodie. Somebody else is gonna post a picture of a gumbo pot. And at least one person is gonna say... "WHEW! Finally got us a cold front!"
That's your Cajun Weekend Weather Report. We ain't just telling y'all what the weather's doing. We're helping you survive Southwest Louisiana weather one weekend at a time. And after saying it week after week after week... I think we're finally getting close. Y'all might wanna start looking for that gumbo pot!
