Traditionally, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo takes place in March every year at NRG stadium in South Houston. In 2020, they were right in the middle of the three-week event when the pandemic hit and they were forced to cancel the remaining rodeo and concerts that were scheduled.

Due to COVID-19 concerns and the uncertainty, the folks at the rodeo have had to pivot and make a decision on if they should keep it in March or move it for 2021.

Well, the answer is they have decided to move the dates. Rodeo Houston is now set for May 4-23 of 2021. Next year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will still feature all the competitions, concerts and entertainment, carnival, and other attractions and activities that you have come to expect.

In a press release, the rodeo said,

While there are no guarantees with the ongoing health situation, scheduling the 2021 Rodeo two months later provides a better opportunity to host the Rodeo. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncertain times and we appreciate your continued support of the Rodeo and its educational mission.

The rodeo is also known for their concert series and bringing the biggest names in country music as well as acts from other genres.

So who is slated to perform in 2021? We will have to wait until a later date, as the folks at the rodeo keep an eye on the pandemic and if the rodeo will even be able to move forward in May of 2021. They advised we will know more in March of 2021 as they monitor the situation carefully and no matter what, they will adhere to the full health and safety guidelines at that time.
