If You’ve Shopped At A Louisiana Walmart Lately, They Could Owe You $500. Here’s Why….
Have you shopped at your local Walmart lately? Well if you have, you could be in luck! It appears that Walmart could be paying out $500 to certain customers. Are you entitled to a check from the big chain store? We're about to find out...
As of January 2024, there were over 4,600 Walmart stores in the United States and over 130 stores throughout the State of Louisiana.
Per Top Class Actions, A class action lawsuit alleging Walmart permitted customers to purchase specific weighted groceries for more than the lowest in-store advertised price has secured a settlement of $45 million.
TopClassActions.com reports that the lawsuit asserted Walmart permitted customers to purchase specifically weighted groceries at a price higher than the lowest advertised in-store pricing.
The customer claimed that when weighted products were marked at a discounted price known as a "Rollback," Walmart's point-of-sale computers would inflate their weight artificially, resulting in a price increase over the promised reduction.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Anybody who made an in-person purchase of weighted goods and bagged fruit at a Walmart store between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, is included in the settlement class. "Bagged citrus" refers to organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges that were sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags. "Weighted goods" refers to variable-weight meat, poultry, pig, and seafood products labeled with a price-embedded bar code and designated by Walmart as part of its Department 93 products.
Customers will have to provide proof of purchase. Those whose claims are accepted must present a receipt or other evidence of purchase that lists all the items they paid for during the class session along with their respective prices.
