Southwest Louisiana's first Golden Chick restaurant in Lake Charles is now open on Gerstner Memorial Drive. The new location is open 7 days a week from 6:30 am to 10 pm. The restaurant was started by husband and wife duo, Howard and Jacque Walker. The couple opened the first Golden Chick restaurant in 1967 in San Marcos, TX. The flagship store locations closed years after reopening in a different in San Marcos.

It didn't take long for the savory recipe of their Golden Chick to gain popularity and soon more locations started sprouting up in neighboring cities like New Braunfels and Georgetown.

In 1989, the beloved chicken chain was purchased by the Parmerlee family, but the delicious legacy continued and remains in the family-owned corporation. The Texas chicken giant has grown by leaps and bounds with 211 franchise locations throughout Central Texas, Oklahoma, and three other states and counting.

Construction on the two Lake Charles Golden Chick restaurants has been rapid! They just started in June on the Gerstner Memorial location and this morning the landscaping crew was laying down the sod.

The exciting October 23, 2024, of Gerstner Memorial is officially underway and the Ryan Street grand opening is just around the corner!
