Hopefully, it has never happened to you, but if you have ever had your vehicle stolen, you know how incredibly imposing and disruptive it is on your life.

The anxiety, the police reports, the insurance reports, and of course figuring out how you're going to be able to live your life until you can get another vehicle...it's incredibly stressful, to put it mildly.

Other than a thief stealing your car for a joy ride and leaving it wrecked in a ditch, the reason some vehicles are stolen more than others depends on the demand on the black market.

In just the first two weeks of June 2023, over 400 cars and trucks were stolen in New Orleans.

Vehicle theft in New Orleans has gotten so bad this year that authorities are referring to the problem as an "epidemic".

According to legaljobs.io, so far in 2023, the most stolen vehicle is the Chevy Silverado truck. Not because there's anything wrong with the truck security-wise, but simply because there are so many Silverados on the road.

Each year the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) releases its "Hot Wheels" list of the most stolen cars and trucks in the U.S. and in each individual state.

With four months left in the year, the 2023 Hot Wheels list hasn't been compiled just yet.

However, it's likely to not vary too far from last year's list.

David Glawe, President and CEO of NICB says that "used car values are at historical highs. We have seen a nearly 35% increase in used car values over the last two years due to supply chain issues and inflation."

According to the NICB, the 10 most stolen vehicles in Louisiana for 2022 were -
