KNGT-FM - Louisiana boy John Foster stole the hearts of American Idol fans during the 2025 season of 'Idol" with his Louisiana accent and classic country sound. During his audition he performed two classic country tunes in "Don't Rock The Jukebox," and "Goodbye Time" while bringing the judges a little taste of Louisiana to his audition in Nashville. Foster brought Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan a small cooler full of goodies from his family's business in Addis, Benoit's Country Meat Block.

On Sunday, it was announced that Foster was the runner-up on this season of American Idol, but John is already fast at work!

Foster posted on social media Tuesday that he’s hitting the stage at the Cajun Country Jam Memorial Day Festival in Denham Springs. The festival runs May 23 through 25 at Pards North Park off Eden Church Road, and it’s shaping up to be a solid weekend of live country music.

He didn’t say exactly when he’ll be performing, but he did hint that Sunday is the day to watch, with a possible Saturday appearance too. Either way, he’ll be there, and for a lot of us in Louisiana, that’s all we needed to hear. Plus, with Memorial Day on Monday, that means it's the perfect afternoon to go out and support one of our own without having to worry about waking up early Monday for work!

Country Artists Born In Texas

The entire Lone Star State is linked to Western films and the classic picture of the American cowboy. It should not be shocking, then, that some of the most well-known figures in country music are Texans by birth. Did you know these stars were born in Texas?
