Jordan Rager never planned on finding fame on TV; rather, the Georgia native grew up with aspirations of becoming a singer-songwriter and began playing in bars long before he was old enough to drink. However, when he had the opportunity to audition for Season 2 of The Voice in 2012, Rager quickly signed up.

"It was cool. It taught me a lot in a very short amount of time, about television and the 'hurry up and wait' thing," Rager, who landed on Blake Shelton's team, tells The Boot. "I think it helped jump off a fan base more than anything. Being on TV, a lot of people want to know who you are after they see you for a short amount of time. We saw a serious spike in the Twitter and Facebook numbers, and it just kind of jump-started it."

Rager was ultimately eliminated during the show's Battle Round, but he has no regrets about the experience.

"It was a cool experience," Rager maintains. "It was never something I thought I was going to do; I never thought the singing competition shows were going to be my avenue -- not that there’s anything wrong with that. I don’t have a problem with it, I just didn’t think that’s what I was going to do."

Following his time on The Voice, Rager signed with Brown Bow Records, in 2014. The 22-year-old insists that much of the credit for his success belongs to his supportive family members, who have helped him every step of the way.

"My parents drove me up and down the state to make sure that I got to every baseball game that I was ever playing in or any show that I wanted to do. They drove me to Nashville to have a two-minute meeting with someone that might be able to help my career when I was younger," Rager boasts. "Whatever it was, they would do it for me, because they wanted to see me succeed. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my mom and dad. I can’t thank them enough for that."

Rager's debut single, "Southern Boy," is available for download on iTunes.
