Kimberly Perry, JP Arencibia File for Divorce
After almost four years of marriage, Kimberly Perry and JP Arencibia have filed for divorce. The Band Perry singer filed the paperwork in Greeneville, Tenn., on Friday (March 2), People reports.
A representative for Perry confirmed the news to People and asked for privacy. Perry and Arencibia's divorce paperwork cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
"Yes, sadly it's true, my marriage has come to an end," Perry writes on Instagram. "I know that beauty will come from these ashes and, as always, I want to thank you all for your love and support."
Perry married Arencibia, a professional baseball player, on June 12, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in her hometown of Greeneville. The couple got engaged in the fall of 2013 at Perry's parents' house in Greeneville.
Perry and Arencibia initially met in February of 2012, at the Florida Strawberry Festival. He was a fan — he'd seen the Band Perry a few times — and managed to finagle his way backstage to meet the musician and procure her phone number.
Arencibia once said that, after seeing the Band Perry's "If I Die Young Video," he “had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future.” And after the pair started dating, Perry too realized that she felt "spiritually and emotionally" linked to Arencibia, as well as secure in their strong bond.
