We just got through the Christmas and New Year holidays which caused your trash pick-up days and times to be changed as the city of Lake Charles observed the holidays.

Well, the same will occur next week as the city of Lake Charles plans to observe the Martin Luther King holiday and will be closed on Monday, January 15th, 2024. This means your usual day and times of when your trash gets picked up will change for next week.

According to Kaite Harrington with the city of Lake Charles,

The City of Lake Charles will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 15, 2024. Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will be NO trash or garbage collection on Monday, January 15.

Changes in trash and garbage pickup are as follows:

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.

She also let us know that the Department of Public Works, including all Recycling Operations will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, but will reopen on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, and will resume regular hours of operation.

So make plans to put your trash cans out before 7:00 am of the day you are scheduled for next week so you don't miss a week and have a ton of garbage and nowhere to put it.
