LHSAA Boys Basketball Marsh Madness Starts Today in Lake Charles
The Louisiana Highs School boys basketball Marsh Madness is back in Southwest Louisiana. It begins today in Lake Charles and runs through March 13.
This is where high schools from all over the state of Louisiana come to the area, vying for a chance to win the high school basketball state championship. Teams have been playing in a tournament-style bracket since the last week of February, looking forward to advancing to the semi-finals and a trip to Lake Charles to play for a championship.
There are seven classes that will play, and five divisions that will all play for their class or divisional state championship. Unfortunately, there is only one Southwest Louisiana team still in the mix for a shot at the finals, which is Hathaway, just north of Jennings.
The great thing about this tournament being in Lake Charles is the economic boom it gives our area with teams, parents, and fans all coming to the area. It helps local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses with some unexpected revenue for their places. Folks will be traveling in from every corner of Louisiana to watch these games and root their teams to victory.
All the semi-final and final games will be played at the Burton Coliseum in South Lake Charles off Gulf Highway. There are several games each day, so if you would like to attend them, you will need to contact the Burton Complex ticket office to find out about ticket and attendance restrictions.
