Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - Last night, Southwest Louisiana was well represented as a singer from Cow Island, Louisiana, participated in the blind auditions on NBC's popular singing competition The Voice.

Singer-songwriter Dustin Dale Gaspard took the stage and delivered a soulful rendition of the Sam Cooke classic, Bring It On Home to Me. The song holds a special place in Louisiana's musical heart, so much so that it was famously covered by Wayne Toups, Van Broussard, and Crosscut, becoming a major hit for both the band and Toups himself. Be sure to check out their powerful version.

Most people who have ever heard this version think it is the original version of the song, but that is not the case; Sam Cooke's version is the original. Anyway, back to last night on The Voice.

Singer-songwriter Dustin Dale Gaspard's audition aired last night nationally, and it started with him playing the harmonica and singing the iconic song.  What shocked everyone while he was auditioning was that halfway through the song, Dustin started singing the song in Cajun French.

His performance sparked a four-chair turn and had all four judges fighting over him, asking Dustin to pick them for their team. One of the judges, Michal Buble', even started talking French to Dustin to try and up his chances of getting him on his team.

So who did Dustin pick as his coach, you ask? Did you see the performance last night? Good news, we have the full performance and the judges' reactions, and who he picked here. Check it out, and congrats to Dustin for making it on the show and making Louisiana proud.
