"And the Grammy for Best Album of The Year goes to...Jon Batiste for 'We Are'!" What a night. What a performance. What a phenomenal artist. He shattered the Grammy stage with the performance of his giant hit "Freedom" and brought the house down. He is an incredible musical talent and we are so very proud of him.

The talented superstar from New Orleans was the most-nominated artist at the 64th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, April 3. With 11 nominations in all, Batiste won 5 as he dazzled the crowded MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and commanded his fair share of attention throughout the night.

As for his live performance of "Freedom" I really have one thing to say, AMAZING. That is what it was. His performance was every bit as magical as the music video to the track, which dropped last year in March. The video was
filmed in his hometown NOLA

"Freedom" has been a powerhouse hit since it dropped in March 2021.

Musical History of Jon Batiste

Born in Metairie, LA, and raised in Kenner, LA Jon comes from a New Orleans music dynasty. Legends like Lionel Batiste of the famous Treme Brass Band, Milton Batiste of the iconic Olympia Brass Band, and Russell Batiste Jr. are all a part of his musical DNA. It is no surprise that at age of eight he was playing percussion and drums with his family's band, the Batiste Brothers Band. At the age of 11, Jon was a piano connoisseur. His musical journey brought him to St. Augustine High School and New Orleans Center for Creative Arts playing music with the best such as with Trombone Shorty. Then on to the Juilliard School, earning a Bachelor of Music and finally a Master of Music in jazz studies in 2011. He is only 35 years old and has already played music around the globe from South Africa to London, from Spain to Paris. By the way, his single “Freedom” was also in heavy rotation as this year's March Madness theme.

We love Jon! Keep playing your music, it keeps us lifted.
