The 2015 Kia of Lake Charles Chennault International airshow is coming to Southwest Louisiana this weekend. And you know who else is coming? LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri.
Mainieri will get the experience of a lifetime Friday morning when he flies with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in an F-16 fighter jet at Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles, La.
Mainieri, the baseball coach at the United States Air Force Academy from 1989-94, will report to Chennault at 7 a.m. CT Friday, be fitted in a flight suit, attend classes about the effects of G-forces and learn about flight and ejection procedures. He will then meet with his pilot, Major Scott Petz (call sign “Cheetah), and they will take off at 10:30 a.m. CT for the one-hour demonstration flight.
Tickets will be $22 at the gate on the days of the show. Children 12 and under get in free, if accompanied by an adult. Parking is free throughout the entire show.
