The LSU football program is still reeling after they were embarrassed on National TV last weekend when Alabama came into Baton Rouge and beat the Tigers 42-13 which gave the football program its third loss of the year.

In the new era of a 12-game playoff format, losing three games in a season all but puts you out of the conversation when it comes to trying to make the playoff brackets. To add insult to injury, the LSU football program and the University have also been hit with some massive fines by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) so far this season.

The first one came after LSU beat Ole Miss back in October in Baton Rouge. The Tigers won the game against an Ole Miss team that was highly ranked at the time. LSU beat the Rebels 29-26 in overtime in dramatic fashion which prompted LSU fans to storm the field to celebrate the win. Do you remember this?

Well, that little celebration of storming the field cost the LSU football program $250,000 as they were fined by the SEC. Now fast forward to last Saturday's game against Alabama. The Crimson Tide ran away with the game which made LSU football fans mad and some decided it was a great idea to start throwing debris onto the field in their disgust over calls by the referees during the game.

Here is the video of the incident that occurred. Fast forward to about 1:30 seconds into the video to see the fans throwing stuff on the field.

That incident cost LSU another $250,000 fine by the SEC. The SEC described the fine as due to poor sportsmanship and required the University to identify individuals who were involved in the trash throwing. Those who are found guilty won't be allowed at LSU athletic events for the rest of the academic year.

So add those up folks and the LSU football program and the University have been fined $500,000 so far this season. Ouch.
