The season for the New Orleans Saints came to an end last Sunday after losing to Tampa Bay in the divisional round in The Big Easy.

It was most likely also the last game for legendary quarterback Drew Brees, as he is expected to retire this year and move on to to his new career broadcasting for NBC.

The Saints might lose more than just their future Hall of Fame quarterback this offseason. Reports are out that head coach Ed Orgeron at LSU is courting Saints defensive line coach Ryan Nielson to become the next defensive coordinator for the Tigers.

Orgeron and Nielsen have a past together. Nielsen played for Ed Orgeron at USC when Orgeron was a coach there in 1998. He was also on Ed Orgeron's coaching staff at Ole Miss from 2005 to 2007.

However, the move may not happen because Nielsen's current contract with the New Orleans Saints could stop him from taking the job.

The Tigers are looking for a new defensive coordinator after the football program parted ways with former defensive coordinator Bo Pelini last month after just one season. The main reason for Pelini's departure was because LSU ranked last in the SEC on defense, allowing the most yards in the league.

Nielsen has been with the Saints since 20017 but before he landed in The Big Easy, he coached at  USC, Idaho, Ole Miss, Central Connecticut State, Tennessee-Martin, and Northern Illinois.

We will have to see how this all shakes out as moves are being made in the offseason for both the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
