Last Saturday, the LSU Tigers football team found themselves in a shootout with Ole Miss while playing in a downpour at Tigers Stadium.

When the rain cleared and the clock hit zero, the LSU tigers won the game 53-48 over Ole Miss. The win put the Tigers at 5-5 on the year or basically finishing at .500 and avoiding a losing season for the first time since 1999 when they finished the season at 3-8.

Normally, most LSU fans would be looking forward to one more game after the regular season finished as LSU usually is in a bowl game, but not this year. It's not because of their record of 5-5 and that no one offered the Tigers a bowl bid.

The reason LSU will not play in a bowl game this year is because they implemented a self-imposed bowl ban on themselves and the program. This was done in cooperation with the NCAA investigation of the program.

The investigation by the NCAA of the LSU football program is due to possible rules violations at the school. Due to that and to nip it in the bud, LSU punished themselves before the NCAA's investigation was even over.

This will be the first time since 1999, when they had that losing record we were talking about above, that the purple and gold will not be in a post-season bowl game. So that's it, LSU fans. The football season has officially come to an end.
