In 2024 we saw a ton of major retailers file bankruptcy, close their doors, or lay off workers. It seems like this is becoming a weekly or monthly thing nowadays. We are just starting 2025 and the news has hit that another major commercial retail department store is laying off workers and closing stores all over the country.

The announcement came down that this major retailer would be laying off 10% of its corporate work staff and also be closing 27 locations in 15 different states across the United States. The closures are scheduled to happen in April of 2025. The store stated that they would be closing 27 stores that have been underperforming.

This retailer is mostly located inside malls and big shopping centers across the United States and is known for selling clothes, perfume, bedding, and more. The major retailer we are talking about is Kohl's.

According to USA Today,

The move comes weeks after the struggling retailer announced it would be closing 27 "underperforming" stores in 15 states by April. That leaves about 1,120 Kohl's locations in operation.

"The real estate closures and the corporate workforce reduction are both actions to support our commitments to increase efficiencies and improve profitability in the business for the long-term benefit of our associates and customers," the Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based company said in a Friday statement. _Source USA Today

So which stores will be closing? According to the release by the company, Texas will only be losing one store that they deemed underperforming. It is located in the North Dallas area. The store is located at 18224 Preston Rd. in Dallas, Texas.
