Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - If you've been driving around near the McNeese campus, you've probably noticed a lot of construction going on. Whether it's the new Press Box at Cowboy Stadium, the new Student Union on campus, or the new weight room, it feels like something new is going up everywhere you look. McNeese gave fans a look inside the brand new Navarre Performance Center, and we've got all of the photos!
The upcoming athletic season is one of the most anticipated athletic years in recent memory for McNeese, and that starts with the return of Coach Matt Viator. The Cowboys have recently been working out in pop-up tents, and at times when it rained, the bottom would be filled with water. This was not ideal for any student athlete.
The new Navarre Performance Center is a $1.5 million renovation of the Jack Doland Field House weight room, now fully complete and in use. The facility includes 20 new free-weight racks, multiple glute and ham machines, three-way rowing machines, and a 30-yard indoor turf area for sprint and agility training.
The "Iron Pokes Dumbbell Pit" has doubled in size, with new cardio stations and strength zones, including a plyo wall for jump training. One of the standout features is the Poke Fuel Nutrition Area, offering grab-and-go snacks and protein shakes. Athletes also benefit from a massive LED video wall, a high-end sound system, and new office space for the strength and conditioning staff.
