The SWLA Center for Health Services is celebrating Juneteenth this coming up Monday, June 19th, 2023 with a big festival featuring a bbq cook-off, gospel showcase, and live entertainment and artists playing live.

It will take place at the Lake Charles Civic Center's exhibition hall and the festivities get underway at Noon. For those of you who don't know what Juneteenth is, Wikipedia describes it as,

A holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
