Top 10 Safest Cities to Live in Louisiana in 2026
(KNGT-FM) - Being safe isn't just about what the numbers say, but that certainly helps. Recently, Louisiana has been known for its high crime rates, but some cities in the state are much safer than others.
A recent report has revealed the best places to live in Louisiana. We've got everything you need to know...

Why Safety Matters in Louisiana
Louisiana has some of the highest crime rates in the country. Violent crimes, like assault, happen at about 9 incidents per 1,000 people. That’s higher than the national average of 4.43.
Property crimes, like theft and burglary, have also increased. In 2026, there were about 36 incidents per 1,000 people in Louisiana, compared to the national rate of 22.89.
Even though crime rates are high, many people in Louisiana feel safer than the numbers suggest. Surveys show that actual experiences with crime are decreasing, but concerns about safety are still high.
