The Saints are expected to sign free agent safety and New Orleans native Tyrann Mathieu according to a tweet from Ian Rapoport.

Tyrann Mathieu has spent the last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and became a free agent this off season. He previously met with the Saints back on April 5th. Nothing came of that meeting, but nearly a month later it would appear that the Saints are bringing Mathieu back to his hometown to play professional football.

Mathieu played his high school football for St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. He went on to play college football at LSU. Tyrann is a Louisiana guy through and through and I know Saints fans are ecstatic to have him come play football in the Big Easy.

Mathieu had also met with the Eagles via Zoom, but the Saints were always the leader in the clubhouse according to another tweet from Rapoport.

The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days. Welcome home, Tyrann Mathieu!
