Harvey has now been upgraded to a Tropical Storm overnight and could become a category 1 hurricane by the time it makes landfall.

Forecast models show that Harvey is expected to make landfall around Corpus Christi Texas last Friday night or in the early hours on Saturday morning.

Southwest Louisiana will be on the East side of Harvey which is where a lot of the rain will be located.  Overnight Harvey moved a little more West on his track which is good for us.

But forecast models still predict at least 5-7 inches of rain and could be as high as 10 inches of rain. If you live in a low lying area or by the water and you will need sand bags, here are locations here in Calcasieu Parish.

  • Ward 1 Barn, 461 Parish Road, Moss Bluff.
  • Ward 2 Barn, 7085 La. 14 East, Hayes.
  • Ward 3 Old Parish Barn, 2320 Smith Road, Lake Charles.
  • Ward 3 Public Works Facility, James Sudduth Parkway behind 5500B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles.
  • Ward 4 Public Works Facility, at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur.
  • Old Ward 5 Barn, 129 Third Street, Starks.
  • Ward 6 Barn, 1275 Plum Street, DeQuincy.
  • Fire Station, 2205 La. 388, Vinton.
  • Ward 8 Barn, 1726 Parish Barn Road, Iowa.

Sand and bags are provided at these locations but you will need to bring your own shovel and some help!
