Several Boat Launches Closed Due To Calcasieu River Flooding
The heavy rains we got last week here in Southwest and Central Louisiana has caused several lakes and rivers to rise really high and prompt fast action by authorities to close several boat launches.
Up around Bundick Lake, we heard that the lake was getting so high that people are have to go and move the camper trailers. Immovable camps people are just trying to prepare their property for the worst.
Here in Calcasieu Parish, the OEP has decided to close several boat launches in the parish due to the Calcasieu river flooding. Tom Hoefer advised us that the launches that will be closed until further notice include:
River Bluff Park in Moss Bluff, Riverside Park in Westlake, English Bayou, Goodman Rd, White Oak Park, Anthony Ferry, Holbrook Park, and West Fork/Gahagan Ln.
The reason for the closures is that a State of Emergency for areas north of the Saltwater Barrier on the Calcasieu River Saturday were issued by the Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
Please avoid these locations and stay off the water until further notice.
