Calcasieu River And English Bayou Closed Due to Flooding
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury along with the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has notified us that both the Calcasieu River and English Bayou are now closed due to heavy rains and flooding.
They have also closed boat launches all over Southwest Louisiana. In a statement released yesterday, they advised both waterways would close as of 5:00 p.m. yesterday April 2nd. The waterways closed include:
- Calcasieu River North of the Saltwater Barrier to the parish line
- English Bayou and waterways East
- The closure does not include the West Fork of the Calcasieu River
This closure of these waterways prohibits all recreational boat traffic on the Calcasieu River and the English Bayou and the order will remain in place until rivers and waterways return to back to their normal levels.
As far as boat launches that are closed they include:
- River Bluff Park
- White Oak Park
- English Bayou Park
- Park at the end of Goodman Road
Make sure to follow these closures and don't get on the water. The CPSO-Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Division will be out on patrol to enforce these closures and stop boaters from being on the water.
