Wait, No Fireworks on New Year’s Eve?

It's hard for most of us to imagine no fireworks on New Year's Eve. Well, believe it or not, not everyone pops fireworks. In Shanghai, China they decided since fireworks can be dangerous they would light up the sky with drones.

Over 2,000 drones took the skies for New Year's Eve. They had many different displays to show off their talents which included: a running man and a countdown until midnight. The drones were fitted with multi-colored lights and controlled not by individual drone pilots but by a central computer that can program them to fly around in any conceivable pattern. Of course, they still completed the ceremony with beautiful displays of fireworks, because well it's what you do.

To be honest, I wasn't sure how cool it was going to be until I watched the video myself.
