Cajun and Louisiana music legend, Wayne Toups, will be joining us in the Gator 99.5 studio Friday morning to catch up on what he has been up to and to make a big announcement.

Wayne Toups is by far the most popular Cajun and Louisiana music artist of all time. He has accomplished so much in his career, like winning a Grammy Award and releasing 18 studio albums that have spawned some of the biggest Louisiana hits of all time.

Some of Wayne's iconic songs include, of course, Take My Hand, Please Explain, That's What I Love About My Baby, Tupelo Honey and many more. In 1999, Wayne Toups song, Free Me, hit the National Country chart at #66.

Toups has also released some great traditional Cajun music with his versions of the Belizaire Waltz, Chere Tout Tout, The Back Door, Late In Life, The Ring That Shines, and Mon Ami, just to name a few.

Here is an interesting fact for you. Wayne Toups shares his October 2 birthday with another Louisiana music icon, Mr. Jo-El Sonnier.

Wayne Toups will join Mike and Chad this Friday morning at 7:40am to make a big announcement. We will catch up with him to see what he has been up to during the pandemic and get his thoughts on getting back to playing for live audiences again. Don't miss it.
