What McNeese Fans Need To Know for This Saturday’s Football Game
It's been over 15 months since the McNeese Cowboys football team has played a home game in Lake Charles. The pandemic shut down the 2020 Fall football season so you have to go all the way back to November 2, 2019 when the Pokes beat Northwestern 30-20.
The 2021 season for the Cowboys began two weeks ago when the Pokes beat Tarleton 40-37 in double overtime to go 1-0 on the young season. The win also vaulted them into the top 25 in the latest poll, as they now sit at #19.
The Cowboys now get ready to enter Southland Conference play this Saturday when they face Incarnate Word in Lake Charles at Cowboys Stadium. The game kicks off at noon and the reason the game is not at night is because the lights were damaged during Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
In this era of COVID-19, here are the things fans will need to know before heading to the game this Saturday.
- Due to state and federal COVID guidelines, McNeese stadium will only allow a 25% capacity and it will be enforced so the available attendance will be 2,800 fans. Entry into the game is free but it is on a first come, first served basis, so get there early.
- Fans can park in the general admission parking lots and these lots will open at 8:00am. There is no tailgating allowed and no RVs allowed for overnight stays.
- The gates will open at 10:30am and all fans will enter through the main gates located on the west side of the stadium or the side where the press box is. Remember there will be a no re-entry policy, so once you leave you can't get back into the stadium.
- No outside food or drink is allowed and a limited amount of concessions and beer will be available starting at 11:00am. The concessions will only be accepting cash, so make sure to bring some.
- Fans will be allowed to sit on the hills and stands during the game but fans are not allowed on the field before, during, or after the game.
