
What to Do in SWLA: Rodeos and Live Music This Weekend
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - The last weekend of January is already here. Where did January go? We are only a couple of weeks away from Mardi Gras, too. How crazy is that?

If you are tired of being cooped up in the house due to the weather event we had last weekend and want to get out and do something this weekend, we have the info for you on what is going on in the Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana area.
The Southwest District Livestock Show and Rodeo is coming back to Lake Charles. The rodeo is set to take place in Lake Charles beginning on Thursday, January 29th, through Saturday, January 31st, 2026, in Lake Charles at the Burton Complex. There will be a parade on Thursday evening and four separate rodeo events. Click here for the entire run down of times and events.
Sammy Kershaw will take the stage live at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles this Friday, January 30, 2026, with the show set for 8:30 p.m. Tickets may be available through Ticketmaster.com and at the Golden Nugget box office. If you grew up on ’90s country or just love real-deal Louisiana music, this is one concert you won’t want to miss.
The Cajun Rodeo Association is returning to Sulphur, Louisiana, this Friday and Saturday, January 30th and 31st, 2026, at the West Cal Arena. Fans can look forward to a full slate of classic rodeo action both nights. Events scheduled for the weekend include bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, and barrel racing. For the full lineup of events, check it out here.
