Wild Video: Driver Sinks Truck at Lake Charles Boat Launch
[KNGT-FM] -- With so many waterways in Southwest Louisiana, it only makes sense that a ton of people in the area own boats. There are boat launches all over the area, and folks take advantage of their time off to launch their boats and ride around while enjoying friends and family, enjoying the scenery.
Of course, one of he most important things to know is boater safety. Boat owners need to know things like how to drive the boat, launch the boat, get their boat out of the water after boating all day, safety on the boat while out on the water, and other common knowledge.

One of the boat launches people love to use in Southwest Louisiana is located at Prien Lake Park. The boat launch is super nice and very wide. Typically, four boats can be launched at one time as long as it is done right. Some people, however, struggle when backing up a boat into a launch.
Case in point. Mark this one up as an epic fail. This boat owner didn't take a class or learn how to properly get his boat out of the water, obviously, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Lake Charles, and it was all caught on video.
Let us set the scene for you. Dustin Tupper and his passengers were pulling up to the boat launch at the Prien Lake Park in Lake Charles when they saw something you don't see every day. He observed a truck in the water at the boat launch. All you could see was the top of the truck's cab. It was completely submerged.
In the video below, you will see the owner of the truck manage to find a couple of people with trucks to tow them out of the water at the boat launch. The big question now is, did the truck start? We doubt it since, as the truck was towed out of the water, hundreds of gallons of water came pouring out of it.
Dustin saw this all unfolding and quickly picked up his phone and caught it all on video.
How crazy was that? Stay safe out there, and if you don't know how to launch a boat or don't want your truck to become a submarine, then have someone qualified to do it for you.
