Sowela SCCA will be hosting their first regional autocross event of the year on March 15. If you have ever wanted the chance to race your car, this would be a great time to come out and try in a safe environment.  If your vehicle is in safe working condition, then it can be raced. Whether it is a sports car, truck, or sedan there is a class for you to race in.

A race course will be set up with rubber cones at the Chennault Air Park bus lot where each vehicle will run the course individually. The purpose, of course is to get through the course as fast as possible, but the average speed is about 30 mph. You can have a rider with you. Kids 12 and over are welcome to ride along as well, as long as a release has been signed by both parents. At the end of the day times will be compared and a winner announced and trophy awarded for each class.

Here are highlights from last year's event.

Registration for the race starts Saturday at noon and there will be a Test and Tune session for your vehicle. Sunday registration starts at 9:00 am with the first race starting at 11:00 a.m.. The registration fee to race is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. It’s free to come out and watch or ride along.
