I had the opportunity to be part of something really special this weekend as the Mines (Sulphur Community Theatre) put on an interactice dinner theatre inside Sulphur High School this past Saturday night. The production was called "Prom Date: Back to the 50's."

Some of the actors in this production were Jody Barrilleaux, Marilyn Boudreaux, Shawn Pickering. They actually accompanied me for a spotlight interview on KPLC last week. Fun times!

I have said it here before and I will say it again, it is really nice to have something like community theatre in Sulphur to showcase hidden talents of residents in the area. Well, I say "hidden talents". Most of the cast I have had the honor of directing or staring on the big stage with have at one time graced the stage at sometime or another. High school, college, maybe another community theatre under a different sky.

For this production, residents came out in droves dressed in 50's attire. The play itself took play in the Sulphur High cafeteria and the auditorium.

Prom Date featured theatrical entertainment, prom photos, a dance contest, antique car display and dancing to vocalists Chris Flowers & Joe Harmon. It was quite a memorible night.

Proceeds from the dinner theatre go towards scholarships & educational programs for community youth.
