I know, I know. None of us want to think about hurricane season with everything going on in our country, but the reality is we are a month and a half away from the start of the season.

Have you ever wondered how they come up with the names for every season? The World Meteorological Organization are the ones who chose the names for Northern Pacific and Atlantic storms. They use six lists of names and they are rotated once a year. If a named storm causes tremendous damage then the name is retired.

The names are listed alphabetically. They start with A but omit Q,U,X,Y, and Z. If we have more than 21 named storms for the season (which I hope we never) the Greek alphabet will be used.

Season starts June 1st and officially ends November 30th. The Farmers Almanac has released the names recycled from 2014 for the 2020 hurricane season.
