KEEP SCROLLING FOR ALL THE SWEET PICTURES OF THIS BEAUTIFUL BOY

Overweight pets are nothing new as we have seen many cases over the years of these pets needing a fur-ever home with someone who is willing to help them shed pounds. The thing about Patches, according to the folks at Richmond Animal Care and Control in Virginia, is that he is VERY healthy.

The folks there and his new adoptive mom want to make sure he stays that way. She will continue his regimen to lose weight. In fact, the Guinness Book of World Records even decided a few decades back to stop having categories for fat animals as they didn't want to contribute to obesity in animals.

The fattest cat ever recorded was a 46-pound cat named Himmy. He was from Australia. You can check out all kinds of interesting facts about cats by clicking here. Now Patches went into the shelter weight 42 pounds, and he is now down to 40.3 pounds.

The folks at Richmond Animal Care took to Facebook to find the perfect person to adopt Patches. They showed lots of pictures and used this adorable phrase to attract folks, "gloriously gluttonous body" Patches. Well, you know the rest, the story went viral.

Here is Patches with his new mom and pictures from his time at the animal care facility. We wish you all the luck in the world Patches!
