Autism ‘Quiet Zone’ Incorporated In This Year’s Mardi Gras Parade
The things that make Mardi Gras parades so enjoyable for most, like loud music and lights, might be overwhelming to a person with autism and a reason not to attend a parade.
This year, the City of Lake Charles is testing out what they are calling the Quiet Zone. It's located at Sale Road between Jeff Davis Bank and St. Michael’s Church. All ages touched by autism are welcome, children and adults.
Loud music will not be allowed following the intersection of Ryan Street and Sale Road.
The Quiet Zone will take place during the Children's Parade this Sunday at 3:30pm.
SWLA residents of all ages that are touched by autism or other disabilities are encouraged to attend.
