Billy Ray Cyrus fans are two months away from having the singer in their living rooms every week. Cyrus is headed back to television this June with the lead role in a new show on CMT called Still the King.

In Still the King, Cyrus plays Vernon Brownmule, aka Burnin' Vernon, a washed-up one-hit wonder who now works as an Elvis impersonator. He’s had some trouble with the law over the years and most recently is shown in jail after he was arrested for crashing into an old country church sign while drunk.

In a new promo clip that will air on CMT Thursday night (April 7), more of the story is revealed.

"Twenty years ago I was country music's biggest star but when you're this high things usually go up in flames," Cyrus says in the opening clip of the two-minute trailer.

The camera then pans to Burnin' Vernon at the police station after being arrested for stealing a bread truck and crashing it into a church sign. After being sentenced to 1,000 hours of community service, he soon learns that he has a 15-year-old daughter who he can only spend time with once he begins paying child support. As luck would have it, he gets a job as a preacher at a local church and his first daddy-daughter date includes a gig as an Elvis impersonator. According to CMT, the comedy series is about “doing all the wrong things… for all the right reasons.”

The premiere of Still the King airs on June 12 at 9PM ET on CMT.
