Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Giving Away Free Gun Locks

You may remember a couple of weeks ago a Leblue Settlement child accidentally discharged a gun and a tragic death was the result. The CPSO is giving away free gun locks to prevent this kind of accident from happening again.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be handing out free safety gun locks beginning tomorrow at the below listed locations. The free locks will be available from 8 a.m till 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. They will be available until they are all gone. There is a two lock limit per family.

In a press release Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said, “In Calcasieu Parish we have a rich tradition of gun ownership and hunting, but owing a gun carries a serious responsibility.  It is a simple thing to lock up your gun to keep it out if reach of children.  I encourage everyone to pick up their free gun lock because nothing is more important than keeping our children safe.”
