The United Way of SWLA and the City of Lake Charles are giving area residents another great resource to access during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Denise Durel, President and CEO of our United Way, told KPLC 7 it's very important that area residents are aware of all the services available to them.

Because of that, they are once again teaming up with the city to host a relaunch of the Community Connections Workshop Series. The only difference is this time, it will be virtual for obvious reasons. Mayor Nic Hunter explained the city plans to put 'laser focus" on local jobs and employers that are hiring for quick training for turn-around jobs.

The workshops will be virtual and accessible through Facebook, and this will make it easier for everyone to participate. Plus, a lot has happened since last year and there are a host of new resources they want the public to be aware of. Mayor Hunter said this it the perfect way for someone to get professional training, enabling them to climb the ladder at existing jobs, apply for better paying position, or get a job opportunity.

FYI, the Community Connections Workshop will air virtually every Sunday at noon until August 30. The first one streamed Sunday, July 23, and is still available online now.
