Live Music, Great Food, and a Great Cause Await at the “Rare Ricky” Benefit
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Around Southwest Louisiana, when one of our own is hurting, folks don't spend much time asking what needs to be done. They just show up. That's exactly what's gonna happen on Saturday, September 26, when friends, family, neighbors, and complete strangers come together for the Rare Ricky Trahan Benefit in Iowa.
If you've ever been to a benefit around here, you already know it's about more than just music and good food. It's about helping carry the load for a family that's going through one of the toughest times of their lives.
The benefit will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the KC Hall, 503 East Highway 90 in Iowa, Louisiana. It's gonna be a full day with live music, great food, auctions, raffles, and plenty of chances to lend a helping hand.

The music lineup is stacked with some names folks around here know well.
- Doc Wilder from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
- Train Wreak takes the stage from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
- River Katz keeps things going from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
- Louisiana Express, hits the stage from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
- The Johnson Brother Band from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Live and Silent Auctions
The silent auction runs from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and the live auction kicks off at 4:30 p.m.
You'll also find Split the Pot, raffle tickets, and a cake sale, because let's be honest, somebody's grandma is probably bringing something you won't be able to pass up.
Show up Hungry
I know how it goes down in Iowa, and believe me when I say, the food is gonna be good. They gonna have pork steak, rice dressing, and beans for $15 a plate. Sounds like a pretty good lunch to me, especially knowing every plate helps a family in need.
The best part about this entire day isn't the food or even the music. It's knowing that every dollar raised will go directly to Ricky's wife to help with medical bills and other related expenses. That's what this benefit is all about.
I say this every time, I love SWLA. Because when one of our own is in need, we always take care of them. So mark your Calendars for September 26th in Iowa, Louisiana!
Sometimes the biggest difference we can make is simply showing up. We will see you there!
