[KNGT-FM] - Big recall news from the snack world. A massive recall has just been issued for about 58 million pounds of sausage-on-a-stick and corn dog products that were distributed in U.S. Stores.

The reason for the recall is due to possible contamination, as pieces of wood may have been mixed into the batter, and there are already reports of consumers suffering injuries after consuming the product.

The AP said,

According to a notice published by the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recall covers select “State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick” and “Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick” products from Texas-based Hillshire Brands, which is a subsidiary of Tyson Foods.

These products, which were made and are under recall, are limited to a single facility located in Texas. The Associated Press report went on to say,

The recalled corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick goods were produced between March 17 and as recently Friday, per Saturday’s recall notices. Tyson, which is headquartered in Arkansas, says the issue was isolated to one facility located in Haltom City, Texas.

This is a massive recall because the recalled products may be in customers' refrigerators and freezers,  as well as in some schools and other institutions. These products were distributed into the Louisiana and Texas markets and also sold online to consumers in both states
