The Park and Party drive-in music festival that was scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2020 has been canceled. The event was going to take place in Hackberry and was going to be full of great entertainment.

This is the second attempt for the people trying to put on this festival. The original Park and Party Drive-In Festival was scheduled to be in Lake Charles in the parking lot in front of the McNeese football field.

The original event was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the executive orders that were in place at the time. That is why they tried to reschedule the event for August, hoping Louisiana would move into a different phase, allowing folks to enjoy a safe family event.

The festival had a great lineup of talented local artists like Johnny Jiminez, Jamie Bergeron, Charlie Wayne, Dani Lacour, Rosedown Rockers, and Bag of Donuts. It is a shame people won't be able to enjoy that now.

Festival organizers released a statement on Facebook yesterday about why the event had to be canceled.

So there ya go, another great festival scrapped due to the pandemic. We have already lost some of the biggest festivals in Southwest Louisiana this year. The Iowa Rabbit Festival, the Marshland Festival, and the Coushatta Crossroads festivals had to be canceled due to the executive orders enacted by the Louisiana governor on the side of caution to keep people safe during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Let's hope we get to start flattening the curve soon so things can get back to normal and we can go see our friends again to listen to great live music, as it is a way of life here in Southwest Louisiana.
